Regardless of the fact that he’s been a business leader for years and years, Isaac Toussie can’t imagine putting up a price tag on all the happiness he’s been providing for the cancer patients at Medstar’s Community Cancer Center. Toussie’s massive funding has been critical in getting the Center to obtain fifty totally new human hair wigs for its state-of-the-art salon, thus assisting female cancer patients throughout the tri-state area in reclaiming a measure of the comfort and style that had been denied them by disease.

As soon as Isaac Toussie heard the story of Joyce, a 19-year-old suffering from leukemia at the Community Cancer Center in Brooklyn, N.Y., he knew his money was being well spent. Joyce’s hair had started falling out due to her chemotherapy treatments, and like many female cancer patients she had spent a lot of money buying a wig in an attempt to cover up the side effects to her appearance. Unfortunately, the wig was uncomfortable and even began to fall apart.

That’s when Isaac Toussie stepped in. The Community Cancer Center was able to use Isaac Toussie’s generous donation to get fifty brand new human hair wigs in a variety of shades, sizes and lengths. The wigs have greatly improved the on-site salon and have been able to create a sense of comfort and happiness to dozens of women of all ages. In common with far too many others, the Toussies are also familiar with the scourge of cancer and have dedicated themselves as a family to better the quality of life of those who have to struggle against this horrible affliction.

Situated in the very Brooklyn community Isaac Toussie lives in, the Community Cancer Center is a part of the Medstar network of medical facilities that provides health care for the Jewish patient and his or her family in major cities throughout the world. These services include ambulatory aid, 24-hour pharmacies, Bikur Holims and Chabad centers. Fully equipped with a conference room, library, boutique and salon that is designed to give the cancer patient a much-needed escape from their daily struggle, the Center also offers a program called ‘Caring Connections’ which pairs cancer patients with cancer survivors.

Unto all this, Isaac Toussie continues the Toussie family tradition of helping those in need. For over the past ten years, Isaac Toussie has kept up the good work originally begun by his father, Robert Toussie, working with several charities, hospitals, and medical groups to help the sick, blind and poor across the country. It is well known that thousands have benefited from the Toussies’ charitable largess, with lives saved, suffering diminished, and illnesses treated or even, in some cases, cured outright.

As a result of one of the worst economies of the last 75 years, charities and non-profit organizations throughout the United States have seen drastic reductions in donations and support. There has been no drop-off, however, in the philanthropy work of Robert Toussie. Toussie, one of the most successful entrepreneurs in the New York area, has continued his close work with the New York University School of Medicine, and has donated both his money and his reputation as a national and international philanthropist to help raise money for the NYU Medical Center.

Robert Toussie Donations: A Multi-Faceted Approach

Bob Toussie’s continued support to the NYU School of Medicine has been as diverse as it has been prolific. Toussie’s generous donations have been to several different departments within the Medical Center, and include fields as varied as orthopedic surgery, dermatology, surgery and plastic surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, and infectious diseases and immunology.

The orthopedic surgery programs at the NYU Medical Center have helped treat conditions like sports injuries, joint pain, tumors, and carpal tunnel syndrome, while the immunology programs help treat HIV patients fight deficiencies in their immune systems, and help cancer patients through chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

Founded in 1841, the NYU Medical School is located on First Avenue in New York City and is home to the School of Medicine, the Sackler Institute of Graduate Biomedical Sciences, and the Charles C. Harris Skin and Cancer Pavilion, which is considered one of the most prestigious and respected dermatology institutes in the country. The Toussie family donations to the dermatology programs at the NYU Medical School have helped treat skin cancers, skin graft patients, and even less severe conditions like hair and tattoo removal.

The Toussie family has considerable familiarity with New York University; two of Robert Toussie’s children graduated from NYU, including his son, Isaac Toussie, who graduated magna cum laude from the NYU Stern School of Business and has continued his father’s charitable mission.

Philanthropic Spirit Becomes a Toussie Family Affair

For more than a decade, this continued push to give back to the community has moved from a Robert Toussie solo endeavor to a Toussie family imperative. Robert’s son, Isaac Toussie, has continued the family’s dedication to improving the quality of life of the less fortunate and has worked with several charities to help the sick, blind and poor across the country. It is well documented that thousands of people have benefited from the Toussie’s medical contributions. Lives have been saved, suffering has been diminished, and illnesses have been treated even cured in some cases.

About Robert Toussie: Robert Toussie is a national and international philanthropist who has donated millions or dollars to charity throughout his entrepreneurial career. Having amassed his fortune through successful corporate investing and asset buying, Toussie has committed himself to the cause of helping improve the quality of life of the less fortunate. Bob Toussie is also fiercely devoted to his family, which includes his four children, six grandchildren, and his wife of more than 40 years. Toussie received his MBA from Columbia University and has been in business for more than five decades.

About Isaac Toussie: Continuing in the charitable path set forth by his father, Robert Toussie, Isaac Toussie is a New York-based philanthropist who has helped the less fortunate throughout the country. The younger Toussie graduated magna cum laude with a major in finance from the NYU Stern School of Business, and received his Masters in Business Administration from the NYU Business School at the age of 21. He is one of the youngest MBAs the school has ever produced. When he’s not continuing his work in the corporate sector as a writer, land developer or business advisor, Toussie studies ethics, philosophy and law. He also enjoys boxing and karate in his spare time.
